Back from the ether

I’ve received a few messages over the last week, asking why I disappeared from the blogosphere. Not to worry – nothing bad happened. Just got overloaded with work (a very interesting project about Voice over IP) and various family matters.

We’re doing another semi-major remodel. This time, having the hardwood in our kitchen, dining room area and entry replaced with marble type tile. This is something we’ve been wanting to do ever since we bought the house two years ago (hard to believe it’s been two years). Hardwood is beautiful but totally impractical for areas that are prone to getting wet. We had an icemaker leak in the kitchen that discolored several of the boards and they’ve squeaked slightly ever since. Drives me nuts. And we’d love to be able to come in from the back door to the patio when we’ve been in the pool, to get something out of the kitchen, without having to worry about dripping on the hardwood floors.

So all the planning and arrangements for that, plus shopping for new dining furniture, has been taking a chunk of my time, too. We’re in the home stretch — the tiles are supposed to be installed next week, before Thanksgiving, and the table is supposed to be delivered the next. I’ll post before & after photos once the new kitchen/dining room are all done.

And I’ll try harder to keep up with the blog. I had no idea so many folks cared about what’s going on in my life.
