AUSTIN – Texas Public Utility Commission Chairman Paul Hudson on Wednesday called on electricity providers to step up competition and cut prices.
He estimated that if the benchmark rate in Texas, the so-called price to beat, were based on today’s natural gas prices, rather than last year’s record-high prices, electricity rates would drop 30 percent
A couple of hours after my last post on TXU, the above article appeared in the DMN. Looks as if Steve Blow and I aren’t the only ones concerned about the ridiculous energy costs and the customer-unfriendly attitude of some of our power companies.
All this talk is nice, but it doesn’t help me pay my $700+ electric bills (and if I’d been with TXU, they’d have been over $800). Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would DO something about it?
